Visakhapatnam: Despite global headwinds, India is poised for leading the growth agenda. Policies are in place to help drive growth in services while incentivizing manufacturing and infrastructure, all of which will have a multiplier effect on employment generation, said Jayesh Sanghvi, Office Managing Partner, E&Y, Hyderabad.
Speaking on the emerging trends in globalization and opportunities at CII Visakhapatnam Session on 'Advantage Visakhapatnam: The Growth Engine of Andhra Pradesh' organised here during the weekend, he said digitisation has provided an ecosystem that enables efficiency, competitiveness whilst fostering innovation and new business products, services while at the same time addressing the issue of formalisation governance and addressing the challenges of inclusions and disparities.
The focus on macro policy stability, while transforming the expenditure mix in favour of infrastructure development will also help spur public investment and finally crowd in private capital. There is not much doubt in India achieving its potential and the vision in the Amrit Kaal, he said.
"Times have changed in the IT landscape. From problem solver to problem identifier, you need to predict where the fault lies, that is the biggest challenge we are facing right now in the IT domain," said Suresh Narra, Delivery Head- Visakhapatnam, Infosys Ltd.
Participating in a panel discussion on “Visakhapatnam spearheading the growth” organised on the sidelines of the CII Visakhapatnam Zone annual meeting, Suresh reiterated that in spite of the good analytical skills of job aspirants, lack of communication skills is hampering the delivery of requisite outcomes.
In his opening remarks in the session, Neeraj Sarda, Chairman, CII Andhra Pradesh said Visakhapatnam has a huge potential for growth and is attracting investments by laying the red carpet in the upcoming Global Investors Summit (GIS) which is being held on March 3 & 4.
Visakhapatnam airport has been registering a steady growth in passenger footfall for the past few months. However, there is still a long way to go to reach pre-Covid level passenger traffic, said K Srinivasa Rao, Director, Airport Authority of India, Visakhapatnam.
“The Air India service to Dubai from Vizag, which was withdrawn during the pandemic, must be restored as the flight had good occupancy. International air connectivity is one of the major components for the growth of the tourism sector,” he added.
